The Washington Nationals’ 2015 schedule opens and closes with series against the New York Mets and includes trips to two of the American League’s storied settings.
Opening Day will take place Monday, April 6 at Nationals Park, opening a three-game homestand against the Mets before a three-game set in Philadelphia and three more at Boston’s Fenway Park.
The Nats last visited Fenway in 2012, sweeping three games from the Red Sox in June.
Washington’s other interleague road series are at the New York Yankees (June 9-10), Tampa Bay Rays (June 15-16) and Baltimore Orioles (July 10-12 in the final series before the All-Star break). The Nationals will host the following AL teams in D.C.: the Yankees (May 19-20), Toronto Blue Jays (June 1-3), the Rays (June 17-18) and the Orioles (September 21-23).
The Orioles series is a departure from how it has been scheduled in recent years — four consecutive games with two at each team’s park. The 2015 games between the Beltway rivals could take place in the heat of the playoff race with the September dates at Nationals Park.
Washington will close the season with six games on the road — three in Atlanta and three at Citi Field against the Mets — with the regular season set to end on Sunday, Oct. 4.
