Neither Jenna nor Barbara Bush — the famous daughters of former President George W. Bush — have followed in their father’s footsteps when it comes to claiming affiliation with the Republican Party.

Jenna Bush Hager is registered to New York’s Independence Party — though that was a mistake, the New York Daily News reported. She meant to register as an Independent.

“Jenna was registered to vote in New York soon after her daughter was born and, like all new moms, she was functioning on very little sleep,” her spokeswoman told the Daily News. “She mistakenly registered for the Independence Party.”

Twin sister Barbara is not formally affiliated with any political party, however.

“I don’t really label myself as Republican or Democrat,” Barbara said to the magazine People in a previous interview.

And Jenna added: “We’re both very independent thinkers.”

Pew Research Center found that 50 percent of younger adults — especially those who hit adulthood around the year 2000 — self-describe as political independents, the Daily Mail reported.
