Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, a possible contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, is scheduled to visit New Hampshire next month to campaign for Republican gubernatorial nominee Walt Havenstein, according to a news report.
A local ABC News affiliate reports the dark-horse candidate’s visit to Manchester will be his first stop in the Granite State since March 2010, when he served in Congress.
New Hampshire is a politically vital state for White House hopefuls, since it hosts the nation’s first party primary after the Iowa caucuses.
Mr. Pence is getting more attention from the media of late as a viable 2016 candidate.
The news website Vox listed seven reasons Tuesday that Mr. Pence could be the GOP nominee, including his popularity among fellow Republicans and his ability to avoid controversy.
