Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had some words of advice for the powers-who-be in the golf world: Ease up.
“We have to make [golf] simpler and easier,” he said, the New York Post reported. “Let’s shorten the course and make playing 12 holes instead of 18 holes the norm.”
He made the statements in a Hamptons magazine story about golfer Raymond Floyd.
“Simpler” is best, the former mayor said.
“I’ve played tennis for 20 years and I’ve never played five sets like the pros do,” he said, the New York Post reported. “I’ll play three sets with my pals. So why play 18 holes? That’s what pros do to win tournaments.”
Mr. Giuliani also ran his golf game proposal by a few friends at the Hampton Classic Horse Show — where he also admitted his wife, Judith, bests him at golf with an average two-stroke lead, the New York Post reported.
