Piers Morgan took to Twitter to announce his decision to cut ties with CNN, during which he also sent a stark message to the National Rifle Association: I’m still gunning for you.
“BREAKING NEWS: I am no longer a @CNN employee,” Mr. Morgan first tweeted Tuesday.
He then tweeted: “I was offered a new 2-year deal by @CNN boss Jeff Zucker to host 40 big interview ’specials.’”
“But after considerable thought, I decided not to accept it — and to try pastures new,” Mr. Morgan said.
The staunch advocate of stricter gun control then warned the NRA that his work to crack down on Second Amendment rights wasn’t ending just because his CNN hosting days were.
“I wouldn’t crack the champagne open too quickly though, @NRA — I haven’t finished with you lot yet.”
Mr. Morgan was hired in 2011 to replace Larry King. His show was canceled in February, however, due to sluggish ratings.
