Scotland Yard authorities arrested nine men who are suspected of holding membership in groups that are banned for terror ties.

The men are between the ages of 22 and 51 and are currently being held in various police stations in central London, The Associated Press reported.

City police have also conducted raids on area homes, businesses and community facilities. On Thursday, the raids continued, with police targeting 18 different sites in London, as well as one home in Stoke on Trent, AP reported.

Police called the searches and arrests just part of their ongoing counter-terrorism investigations into Islamist-tied individuals, rather than a rapid response to an immediate threat.
