A waitress who also happened to serve as the executive director of a Texas group that gives money to poor pregnant women who want to abort said she chose principle over money and dumped thousand dollar tips from one of her most famous customers — Rush Limbaugh — into the charity box.
Merritt Tierce, who is now the author of “Love Me Back,” revealed during an interview with Dallas News that she once served food at a Dallas steakhouse, while simultaneously acting as executive director of the Texas Equal Abortion Fund, and had the pleasure of waiting on Mr. Limbaugh — twice.
Both times, Mr. Limbaugh dined with his friend Al Michaels, she said, Mediaite reported. And both times, Mr. Limbaugh — who’s known for leaving generous tips — gave her $1,000, she said. But Ms. Tierce said she couldn’t keep the money.
The cash seemed “like blood money to me,” she said to the newspaper, obviously referring to Mr. Limbaugh’s views on abortion, which run counter to hers. She said she gave the total $2,000 to charity.
“It felt like laundering the money in a good way,” she said, Mediaite reported. “He’s such an obvious target for any feminist or sane person. It was really bizarre to me that he gave me $2,000, and he’s evil incarnate in some ways.”
