Jordan Reed out, Brian Orakpo probable for Redskins’ game against Giants

Jordan Reed will miss his third consecutive game with a left hamstring strain on Thursday when the Washington Redskins host the New York Giants at FedEx Field.

Reed, who strained the hamstring in the season-opening loss at Houston, has not been able to practice since the injury.

Aside from Reed, quarterback Robert Griffin III (dislocated left ankle) and inside linebacker Akeem Jordan (sprained MCL in left knee), the other 14 players listed on the injury report may be able to play.

That includes outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, who tore a ligament in the middle finger on his left hand in a loss at Philadelphia on Sunday but is probable to play. He said Tuesday he’ll put a hard cast on the finger for the game, but does not know how it will affect his play.

Defensive end Jason Hatcher (strained hamstring), nose tackle Chris Baker (unspecified right hip and right ankle injuries) and wide receiver DeSean Jackson (separated left shoulder) are all considered questionable but are expected to play.

Left guard Shawn Lauvao, who aggravated his swollen right knee in the second quarter on Sunday, did not practice for the second consecutive day and also remains questionable. If he can’t play, Josh LeRibeus, who replaced Lauvao against the Eagles, figures to make his first career start.

Cornerback Tracy Porter is also questionable for Thursday as he continues to recover from a strained right hamstring. Porter, who injured the hamstring during the preseason, has not played in any of the Redskins’ three games this season. His availability could be crucial for the Redskins, who need to replace starter DeAngelo Hall after he tore his left Achilles’ tendon on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Giants listed starting middle linebacker Jon Beason as doubtful with unspecified foot and toe injuries. The only other player of note on their injury report is punter Steve Weatherford, who is probable with a sprained left ankle.
