Former President Bill Clinton may have inadvertently let loose the gender of daughter Chelsea’s unborn during an interview on ABC News with George Stephanopoulos.

Mr. Stephanopoulos, at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, asked about Mr. Clinton’s “grandfather watch,” and what he most wanted to pass along to his grandchild, ABC News reported

And Mr. Clinton’s reply: “I want my grandson,” and paused, before adding, “or granddaughter —” and then Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted, to ask if he had just spilled the beans.

“No, no, no, I’m proud of my son-in-law and my daughter for not wanting to know” their baby’s gender, Mr. Clinton quickly said, ABC News reported.

And he then referenced the baby in plural terms: “I want them to get up every day and look at the world with wonder and reverence. I want them to respect everyone they meet, whatever their background … [and to] really love being alive. … And when they grow up, I want them to believe that they have certain obligations to people who don’t have all the opportunities they’ll have.”
