Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell has reportedly been trash talking New York City as Philadelphia competes in its bid to host the 2016 Democratic presidential convention.

Mr. Rendell, who once served as Philadelphia’s mayor, has sent articles to the Democratic National Committee that paint New York City as a dangerous, bug-infested cesspool, the New York Post reported.

The Democrat said he was “lightheartedly busting the city’s chops,” The Post reported.

One of his complaints about New York City’s bid to host the convention is the enormous traffic problem it could cause by transporting thousands of delegates from Manhattan to Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“I think that’s the big weakness with New York City’s bid: the hotels are in one borough, the convention’s in another,” Mr. Rendell told The Post.

He said the article he sent to DNC CEO Amy Dacey was a state agency report he read about in the Post about the dangers of the heat in subway stations.
