MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A group of former world leaders will meet in Minneapolis next fall for an international climate change summit.
The Star Tribune reports (https://strib.mn/ZbDdWd ) organizers announced the event Monday. They say the conference in October 2015 is designed to draw people from around the world to explore how democratic nations can reduce greenhouse-gas emissions that contribute to global warming.
It will be held in connection with the annual meeting of Club de Madrid. The group of about 100 past presidents and prime ministers includes former U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
Conference director Jim Dorsey says the goal is to show how businesses, governments, groups and individuals can work together to reduce carbon emissions.
The University of Minnesota has said it can host some of the sessions.
