LAS VEGAS - Taylor Swift didn’t divulge any more new secrets about her forthcoming album when she took the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, but the crowd’s enthusiasm about her bouncy new single, “Shake it Off,” seems to bode well for the new record. Swift, dressed in a bedazzled, bubble gum pink skirt and top, opened for the 4th annual festival Friday with hits including “Love Story” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” A parade of chart-toppers followed her in the nearly five-hour program, including Coldplay, Usher, Nick Minaj and Ariana Grande. HISTORIC RANCH HOUSE
YERINGTON - A ranch house that was disassembled in Virginia City and reconstructed in 1903 in the Mason Valley about 80 miles southeast of Reno has been added to the Nevada State Register of Historic Places. James and Mary Ellis Wilson lived until the 1940s in the Nordyke Ranch House they rebuilt south of Yerington near where the Walker River divides into its east and west branches. SENT: 130 words. CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
POLLOCK PINES, Calif. - Officials say assessment teams will be checking to see how many structures have been destroyed or damaged from a massive wildfire that is threatening thousands of homes in Northern California. Fire spokesman Mike McMillian said Saturday that officials have confirmed that several structures have been lost due to the King Fire, but they do not know exactly how many due to the still fast-moving blaze which began one week ago. UNLV will be welcoming Intel’s Cherry Creek supercomputer - which was ranked in 2013 as the 400th fastest supercomputer in the world and the 41st most energy-efficient and powerful computer in the world.
