Wes Welker reportedly will miss the first four games of the Denver Broncos’ season after testing positive for amphetamines.
Welker already had been questionable for Denver’s season opener after suffering concussion symptoms 10 days ago in a preseason game.
ESPN was the first of several outlets to report the ban, saying Welker had an appeal hearing Aug. 20-21.
Welker, 33, had 10 touchdowns among his 73 receptions last season, five times catching at least 10 passes in a game.
The veteran began his career with the Miami Dolphins, then played six seasons for the New England Patriots before joining the Broncos in 2013.
