A plane flying out of New York to Palm Beach, Florida, was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Jacksonville after passengers fought over a reclining seat.
This is the third reported plane deviation in recent weeks due to the very same reason.
Delta Airlines passenger Aaron Klipin said he was sitting next to a woman who tried to lean back her seat while the women behind her was trying to sleep with her head down on the snack tray attached to the back of the seat in front of her, United Press International reported.
“This woman sitting next to me knitting tried reclining her seat back, [and] the woman behind her started screaming and swearing,” Mr. Klipin said, UPI reported. “The flight attendant came over, and that exacerbated what was going on. She demanded the flight land.”
The woman who was trying to sleep was identified as Amy Fine, 32. The pilot diverted the plane to Jacksonville as a safety precaution, and when Ms. Fine was escorted off the craft, the flight continued.
Last month, a fight broke out on a United Airlines flight because a passenger attached a Knee Defender to his tray table, preventing the passenger who sat directly to his front from reclining, Fox News reported. Shortly after, another flight was similarly diverted from its original course for the same type of fight, Fox News said.
