NEW YORK (AP) — New York City is installing more speed cameras near schools.
The announcement was made Tuesday outside Public School 95 in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
The Department of Transportation has classified the area as a high-crash corridor.
Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg says drivers should take heed as students return to school on Thursday.
New York City already had 20 of the devices. Legislation signed into law in June authorized up to 120 more.
Speeders caught by the cameras will be mailed a $50 ticket.
