NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will hold a Friday afternoon press conference to give a long awaited address on the recent scandals surrounding domestic violence charges in the NFL.
Mr. Goodell is set to hold the conference at 3 p.m. in New York City to discuss the NFL’s personal conduct policies.
The press conference comes after Mr. Goodell sent a memo to all 32 NFL teams on Thursday laying out provisions the league will take to work with organizations that assist domestic violence and sexual abuse victims.
The NFL will provide financial, operational and promotional support to the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, the Associated Press reported.
“These commitments will enable both the hotline and NSVRC to help more people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault,” Mr. Goodell said in the memo.
Several lawmakers have called for Mr. Goodell to step down, accusing him of mishandling multiple domestic violence cases across several teams. Less than three weeks into the season, five similar cases have mead headlines surrounding players like Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, and Greg Hardy.
