Members of the D.C. Council have exempted themselves from most parking tickets, but that hasn’t stopped one local paper from publicly shaming the members who park illegally.

The Washington City Paper set up an account on Instagram Thursday called Councilgram, where readers are asked to submit their photos of rule-breaking Council members. Each post identifies the Council member, what they are guilty of, and their “sentencing.”

Jack Evans, Ward 2 Democrat, is accused of parking in a no-parking zone.

“Evans positions himself as 14th St. NW’s very own Buford Pusser, driving the drug dealers and prostitutes out of the former red-light district,” a description reads. “In honor of Evans, it’s time to get rid of some more lawlessness: no illicit parking for Evans on the now-developed street.”

Jim Graham, Ward 1 Democrat, apparently parked in a bike lane.

He was sentenced “to ditch his signature Beetle for a bike for the rest of his term — preferably in lame-duck yellow.”

David Grosso, at-large independent, and Muriel Bowser, Ward 4 Democrat and mayoral hopeful, are also accused of parking in no-parking zones.

“Grosso, one of the Council’s most vocal members on criminal justice, spent a weekend last June in a maximum security prison to learn about incarceration. Send him back for some more research!” the City Paper writes.
