The Clinton Global Initiative, a project of the nonprofit Clinton Foundation, is giving top environmental activism nods to Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
The president of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga — the nation’s first female chief — is also due to receive an award, Politico reported.
The foundation, which is run by the former first family, has a mission to recognize world leaders for various contributions.
Mr. DiCaprio recently served as narrator for a short film that presses for the carbon tax — and for that, he’s going to receive a Clinton Global Citizen Award at a Sept. 21 function in Manhattan, Politico reported. Secretary of State John Kerry has also issued words of praise for Mr. DiCaprio and his work to combat climate change.
Former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and their equally famous daughter, Chelsea, are all expected to attend, along with President Obama and Mr. DiCaprio’s movie-making colleague, Matt Damon.
