Mayor Rob Ford, the Toronto politico who rocked international headlines for his admitted use of crack cocaine, has now entered a hospital for treatment of a tumor in his abdomen.

Dr. Rueben Devlin with Humber Regional Hospital said Mr. Ford had complained for some time of pains in his stomach area, CBS News reported. Subsequent testing showed he likely has a tumor, Dr. Devlin said.

“[The pain] became unbearable for him,” he said, describing the three months of pain Mr. Ford has suffered, CBS News reported.

Dr. Devlin said they’re trying to now determine what type of tumor Mr. Ford has and could not specify how long he would have to remain in the hospital.

The Toronto Sun reported that Mr. Ford spent time in the hospital in 2009 for a tumor on his appendix.

Mr. Ford caused quite a stir months ago when a video surfaced of him reportedly smoking crack cocaine. Following months of denials, the mayor admitted he has used the drug in the past, but only while in a “drunken stupor,” CBS News reported.
