Redskins coach Jay Gruden told Jacksonville beat reporters on Wednesday that tight end Jordan Reed’s hamstring injury is likely to keep him out Sunday when the Redskins host the Jaguars.
“Jordan has a [strained] hamstring and he’ll most likely be out on Sunday,” Gruden said on a conference call before the Redskins began practice. “We’re going to check him out today. He’s walking around today. He’s not going to practice today and won’t practice [Thursday]. He’s a long shot, I would say.”
Reed strained his left hamstring as he attempted to hurdle Texans cornerback Kendrick Lewis on a 4-yard reception on Sunday. He played only seven plays before leaving the game and did not return.
The injury is the eighth Reed has sustained since joining the Redskins as a third-round draft pick prior to last season. He missed the final six games as he continued to recover from the effects of a concussion.
