London police have arrested a fifth man suspected of planning a London terror attack. All five men are accused by Scotland Yard of the “commission, preparation or instigation of act of terrorism.”
The spate of arrests come roughly two weeks after 10 other men were apprehended in conjunction with terror-related offenses.
A U.K. security official told CNN on Thursday that Islamic terrorism was “the clear reason” for this week’s arrests. The men, all under 21 years of age, are being held in London police stations, CNN reported.
Bernard Hogan-Howe, a Metropolitan Police Commissioner, said that a large percentage of the arrests are “linked back to Syria and Iraq” during a local BBC radio interview, CNN reported.
