I don’t see what all the fuss is about regarding Omar Gonzalez, the White House fence-jumper (“White House says Secret Service should release more information about fence jumper,” Web, Sept. 30). As a minority with a Muslim-sounding first name, he seems to have the requisite politically correct qualifications for eligibility to spend time at the White House, stay in the Lincoln Bedroom and join the first kids at Sidwell Friends for an education. After all, if the president can permit hundreds of thousands of illegal fence-jumpers into my backyard, why can’t just one undocumented fence-jumper be embraced in his yard?

Similarly, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has invited tens of thousands of illegal fence-jumpers into our state and given them free housing, free meals, free education and free health care. I wonder if I, as a taxpayer, who pays the O’Malley’s household maintenance, will be allowed to jump the mansion fence as an undocumented visitor to join him for breakfast and occupy one of the many mansion rooms. Do the president and the governor think they are a special kind of person who can keep people away while the ordinary citizens have to do the suffering for their elitism?

President Obama should ask Texas Gov. Rick Perry about using the National Guard to secure the border. Perhaps if the D.C. National Guard links arms just inside the entire White House border, future illegal fence-jumpers can be stopped. In any event, what if there is a second coordinated jumper on the other side the next time? Or if there is a second wave of jumpers on all sides after the first two are run down, leaving the grounds temporarily bereft of Secret Service agents?
