A Republican congressman is warning that fighters from the terrorist army known as Islamic State have already tried to sneak into the United States.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, said Border Patrol sources told him that agents had caught members of Islamic State, also known as ISIL or ISIS, crossing the southern border.

“I know that at least 10 ISIS fighters have been caught coming across the Mexican border in Texas,” he said Tuesday on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

“If you really want to protect Americans form ISIS, you secure the southern border — it’s that simple,” he said. “They aren’t flying B1 bombers bombing American cities, but they are going to be bombing American cities coming across from Mexico.”

The Obama administration has discounted previous reports that Islamic State terrorists were attempting to cross illegally from Mexico into the U.S.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told a congressional panel last month that “no specific intelligence or evidence to suggest at present that ISIL is attempting to infiltrate this country though our southern border.”
