Fox News pundit Bill O’Reilly came down hard on Hollywood’s Ben Affleck for comments he made in defense of Islam on a recent television appearance, saying the actor is living in denial.

Mr. O’Reilly made the remarks while discussing the recent trade of barbs between Mr. Affleck and HBO host Bill Maher, when the former called the latter “racist” and “gross” for saying that liberals are closing their eyes to the dangers of radical Islam.

“Maher is correct on the overall effect Islam is having on the world right now,” Mr. O’Reilly said, Politico reported. “Militant Islam continues to drive worldwide terrorism. Ben Affleck should well understand that he himself would be beheaded in a heartbeat by these ISIS animals.”

Mr. O’Reilly then reminded how children in the Middle East were cheering in the streets in the days that followed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

“Criticism of Islam’s role on the world stage is certainly valid,” he said, Politico reported. “The Muslim world needs to take a hard look at itself.”
