An investigation is underway at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia over possible Islamic State propaganda found in the town.

A government employee found leaflets that read in Arabic, “We are here from Mexico and came by train,” base spokesman Maj. Andrew J. Bormann told Marine Corps Times on Friday. The reverse image of the Islamic State group’s flag was imprinted on the items.

“Security personnel from the base informed the town of Quantico, the FBI and NCIS,” Maj. Bormann said. “While these leaflets may be a hoax, base officials are taking their discovery seriously.”

The paper reported that the Marine Corps sent out a statement Wednesday to Marines to “report even the most minor suspicious activity.”
