A self-proclaimed Christian man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the near-beheading of a 19-year-old acquaintance with whom he had previously argued — over witchcraft.
Isaiah Marin of Stillwater, 21, was charged in the killing after a witness reported him walking down the street with a large knife in his hands, The Associated Press reported.
Police accuse Mr. Marin in their affidavit of inflicting multiple stab wounds on the victim, Jacob Andrew Crockett, AP said. Crockett’s head was “mostly severed” from his body, police said, AP reported.
A witness told police that the two men had engaged in several disagreements on previous occasions over the practice of witchcraft. The affidavit also says that Mr. Marin reportedly “had strong Christian beliefs,” while Crockett was allegedly a practitioner of witchcraft — which would make him a warlock, AP reported.
Crockett also happened to be the son of a Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, AP reported.
Mr. Marin is being held in the Payne County jail.
