Two Malaysian boys, ages 13 and 11, have launched a lawsuit against Malaysia Airlines and the government over the death of their parents in the horrific March 8 plane crash of Flight 370.
Jee Kinson, 13, and Jee Kinland, 11, said the civil aviation department was negligent for failing to contact the plane within a reasonable period of time after it fell off the radar screen on route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, The Associated Press reported.
The boys also allege the airline was negligent because it didn’t exercise all necessary safety precautions.
“We have waited for eight months,” the boys’ lawyer, Arunan Selvarej, said in the AP report. “After speaking to various experts, we believe we have sufficient evidence for a strong case. A big plane missing in this age of technology is really unacceptable.”
The boys want damages for their mental distress, emotional pain and the loss of support due to the death of their father, who earned about $5,200 a month, AP said.
The suit was filed at Kuala Lumpur High Court.
