The campaign bus of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst plowed into a deer Wednesday with Ms. Ernst and Arizona Sen. John McCain on board, the Des Moines Register reported.

The collision with the deer will not affect the campaign, and no one on the bus was injured, a spokeswoman for the campaign told the paper.

The run-in for Ms. Ernst, who famously brought her history with castrating hogs into the race against Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley, isn’t the first incident an Iowa Republican has had with a deer in recent years.

“Fred and I hit a deer on hiway 136 south of Dyersville,” GOP Sen. Charles E. Grassley tweeted in October 2012. “After I pulled fender rubbing on tire we continued to farm. Assume deer dead.”
