Tight end Niles Paul was able to participate in a full practice on Friday, meaning it’s very likely he will be able to play for the Washington Redskins against Seattle on Monday.
Paul sustained a concussion in the Redskins’ last game, a 45-14 loss to the New York Giants on Sept. 25. The extra time between games has given the tight end additional time to work through the league’s concussion protocol, as Paul would have been allowed to practice on Tuesday if the Redskins had a regular interval between games.
Washington could have its full complement of tight ends ready for the game against the Seahawks. Jordan Reed, who is recovering from a strained left hamstring, was on the field for his third consecutive practice, and although he was listed as limited on the injury report, coach Jay Gruden said Reed is “coming along at a pretty good rate.”
“We just have got to wait and see how he feels [Saturday] moving forward,” Gruden said. “It’s hard for him when he’s not getting a lot of team reps. He’s getting some, but not very many. We’ll have to wait and see how he does tomorrow to make that final decision, and if we feel like he’s ready — not only physically, but mentally, that he’s got everything down, [he could play].”
Left tackle Trent Williams, who dislocated his right kneecap in the game against the Giants, also appears on track to play Monday. Williams was also limited in practice, but he completed nearly a full workload.
Aside from Paul, the only other player whose status changed from Thursday was inside linebacker Akeem Jordan, who finished a full practice for the first time this season after tearing the MCL in his left knee in the final preseason game.
Cornerback Tracy Porter and strong safety Trenton Robinson did not practice. Robinson, who sustained a high left ankle sprain in the last game, worked off on a side field with the team’s athletic training staff. Porter, who aggravated his strained right hamstring in that game, did not attend practice for the third consecutive session.
Also limited in practice on Friday were left guard Shawn Lauvao (sprained right knee) and defensive end Kedric Golston (strained left groin). Defensive end Jason Hatcher, outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, wide receiver DeSean Jackson, nose tackle Chris Baker and defensive end Jarvis Jenkins all completed a full practice.
