YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - An Oregon man has acknowledged flying an unmanned aircraft near bison and over Yellowstone’s crowded Midway Geyser Basin.

Park officials say Donald Criswell of Molalla, Oregon, pleaded guilty Thursday to violating a closure when he flew a drone in the park Aug. 19. He was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay court costs.

In June, the National Park Service banned drones in all national parks. Since then, rangers in Yellowstone and nearby Grand Teton National Park have issued a handful of citations.

Criswell is the third person to plead guilty to flying an unmanned aircraft in Yellowstone since the ban was enacted.
