As if getting paid weren’t motivation enough. Now a Minneapolis ad agency is sweetening the pot a bit to get employees to fully fill out their timecards — by giving them a free glass of beer for properly submitted forms.

United Press International reported that the Tapserver at Minneapolis firm Colle + McVoy requests workers to scan their keycards so that the time clock system can verify their work hours. The system verifies the time sheet’s done correctly and then inputs the information to payroll.

Not all are abiding by the process, so the firm has installed a “multi-keg beer deployment system” tied to its timecard system that offers a choice of various different brews for free, UPI said.

“The technology used includes several Arduinos, a Node-based server, solenoids and a Raspberry Pi,” the company said, UPI reported. “The software was written to tie seamlessly with Colle + McVoy’s timekeeping application.”

And so far, the new system seems to be working. The firm reports that time sheet completion has improved by 90 percent, UPI reported.
