Kai Forbath was given the NFC’s special teams player of the week honor by the league on Wednesday after making two field goals, including a 44-yarder that provided the winning points in the Washington Redskins’ overtime victory at Dallas on Monday.
Forbath has now made 13 of 14 attempts this season, missing only a 33-yarder in a 37-34 loss at Philadelphia on Sept. 21. After that try, Forbath has made his last nine field goals, including four — and a game-winner — against Tennessee on Oct. 19.
“I missed the one in Philadelphia, but I mean, looking at numbers — we were doing it today — there’s been one miss in the last 28 attempts,” Forbath said. “Just, you know, taking one kick at a time and trying to get on another streak again.”
Forbath began his career by making his first 18 field goal attempts, which set an NFL record. Dating to a Nov. 3, 2013 victory over San Diego last season, Forbath has made 27 of his last 28 attempts.
Nine other Redskins players have won the special teams player of the week award, including kickers Shaun Suisham and Graham Gano.
