Vice President Joseph R. Biden said America ought to invest in infrastructure and jack up the taxpayer contribution to build — that doing so will bolster the economy and ratchet up job opportunities, he said.

“Build, build, build, build,” Mr. Biden said during an event hosted by CG/LA Infrastructure, The Hill reported. “The first federal road was built from Washington to Ohio. … [We] built a thing called the Eerie Canal. Ladies and gentlemen, we always have to build. That’s who we are.”

Mr. Biden said America was “absolutely brain dead” to ignore the opportunity to build up the nation’s infrastructure, The Hill reported.

“It’s like that old line from the baseball movie ’Field of Dreams’: ’If you build it, they will come,’” he said, The Hill. “Invest in these ports and guess what? Manufacturing will come.”
