Adolf Hitler’s copy of “Mein Kampf,” taken from his Munich apartment by an American soldier in 1945, has been put up for auction.
The copy is a 1932 edition and is now being auctioned at historyhunter.com by Craig Gottlieb, a guest expert on “Pawn Stars’ on the History Channel, United Press International reported.
“This is not your run-of-the-mill copy of ’Mein Kampf,’” Mr. Gottlieb said in a press release. “Obviously Hitler must have had multiple editions of his own book, but this one was in his Munich apartment and Hitler’s eyes almost certainly scanned its pages at some point.”
The book itself was penned by Hitler in 1923 from prison and was published for the first time two years later. Translated into “My Struggle,” the book highlights Hitler’s plans for Germany.
The opening price for the book was $4,995, but has since reached $8,400, UPI reported. Mr. Gottlieb said he will donate the money from its auction — which ends Nov. 1 — to charity.
