Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said Wednesday that the media reports are all wrong — he is not resigning.

CNN reported Tuesday that Chief Jackson was expected to resign as early as next week. The media outlet also said the St. Louis County Police Department was poised to take over control of the force.

But Chief Jackson said CNN is wrong and he has no plans to resign, KSDK-TV reported. Meanwhile, the Ferguson Police Department said similarly — that officials aren’t aware of any departure of Mr. Jackson.

In a tweet, the Ferguson Police Department said: “Ferguson chief says he has not resigned. He has not been told to resign. He has not been fired. If he leaves, it will be his choice alone.”
