Before traveling to Wisconsin for a campaign event, President Obama on Tuesday will speak about U.S. efforts to stop the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, White House officials said.
Mr. Obama’s remarks will come on the heels of a phone call with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) volunteers who are working in Africa to control the spread of the virus, which has claimed thousands of lives.
“The message the president is trying to deliver is that [USAID volunteers] have a critically important role in our response to this Ebola situation,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
Following his comments, the president will travel to Milwaukee where he’ll campaign for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke.
