President Obama on Tuesday took a shot at his home city of Chicago and its infamous history of voter fraud.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Wisconsin for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke, the president encouraged voters to take advantage of the state’s early voting system, which will end on Friday ahead of next Tuesday’s election.
“You can vote all week. You can only vote once. This isn’t Chicago,” Mr. Obama said. “I’m teasing, Chicago. I’m messing with you. That was a long time ago.”
The Windy City has a history of voter fraud accusations, most notably in the 1960 presidential election. Republican critics long have alleged that Democrats stole that year’s presidential election for the late President Kennedy with fraudulent votes cast by the dead and by people who had moved out of the city.
