Hillary Clinton may have worldwide name recognition and a boatload of experience in various leadership roles, but when it comes to politics, she’s “not really good,” said the chairman of the Republican National Committee, commenting on the former Secretary of State’s many recent gaffes.
Most her recent remark, said Reince Priebus: How the American public shouldn’t be fooled into thinking “that, you know, it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs,” The Hill reported.
Mr. Priebus said that comment was a thinly veiled attempt to try and talk the progressive talk and steal supporters from Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
“She’s trying to be Elizabeth Warren,” Mr. Priebus said, The Hill reported. “It’s pretty obvious, and she’s trying really hard. I don’t know if she was a little off-script on that particular moment, but it clearly wasn’t natural and it was certainly awkward.”
He also pointed to some of her other recent missteps, politically speaking.
“You look at her book rollout — it was a disaster,” Mr. Priebus said, recounting, too, her claim of being “dead broke” when she left the White House. “She talks off the cuff; it doesn’t work. She makes one mistake after the next.”
Mr. Priebus then said the Republican Party basically wants nothing more than to see Mrs. Clinton make a run for the White House.
“Put yourself in my shoes,” he said, The Hill reported. “There’d be no one you would want more to run against than Hillary Clinton, and on top of, she’s not really good at politics.”
Mrs. Clinton did later backtrack on her corporation comment, saying that she had “shorthanded” it and was talking about tax breaks.
