CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Increasing oil development in eastern Wyoming is helping state revenues but a new state report says state job growth isn’t increasing as fast.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1yFP4aj ) that a recent report by the state’s Economic Analysis Division says oil production in July was nearly 17 percent higher than the same month the previous year. Similar increases were recorded in each of the year’s first six months.
Wyoming’s oil production through July was 42 million barrels of oil. Wyoming produced just over 63 million barrels in all of 2013.
The state added 3,600 jobs across all sectors of the economy through August, an increase of about 1.2 percent. Retail jobs led the way with 2,000 jobs, representing a year-over-year increase of 6.7 percent.
