Judd Nelson, one of Hollywood’s iconic 1980s Brat Pack stars, was forced to tackle a fast-moving media rumor that painted him as dead — to the point where his agent even shot some photos of him holding the front page of the Los Angeles Times newspaper with the current date displayed.
Agent Gregg Klein handed over the photos with the message: “Reports of Judd Nelson’s death are not accurate. Please see attached photo,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
Jean-Pierre Henraux, Mr. Nelson’s longtime manager, said he’s not sure how the rumor started or spread, the newspaper reported.
But a Web page with a URL that included the phrase Fox News in it seemed to be the launching point for a story that told of how the star was discovered dead Saturday night at a condominium in West Hollywood, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Mr. Nelson, who starred in the “Breakfast Club,” just shot an episode of “Empire,” an upcoming television series, his manager said.
