Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear at a rally in Aurora, Colorado, Monday evening to boost Democratic Sen. Mark Udall and Gov. John Hickenlooper in their tight re-election bids.
Mr. Udall has gotten boosts in recent days from first lady Michelle Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts as Democrats try to drag him across the finish line in his close race against GOP Rep. Cory Gardner.
Mr. Hickenlooper is also in a tight race against Republican Bob Beauprez. The rally is also intended to boost Democrat Andrew Romanoff, who is trying to unseat GOP Rep. Mike Coffman, and Mr. Clinton is scheduled to make an appearance Tuesday in Lakewood as well.
With President Obama relegated to the sidelines in many of the competitive U.S. Senate races this year, Democrats have been turning to other major figures within the party, such as the Clintons, to energize the rank-and-file as election day approaches.
The Des Moines Register also reports that Mr. Clinton is scheduled to head back to Iowa on Saturday to boost Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley in Mr. Braley’s race for the U.S. Senate against GOP state Sen. Joni Ernst.
