Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Sunday she hasn’t settled on her political future, as rumors swirl that Michelle Obama is being urged to run for the California seat, should the veteran lawmaker retire.
“I have no idea what I’m going to be doing in 2018. That’s four years from now, and that’s one of the nice things about a six-year term,” Ms. Feinstein, the senior senator who has served in Washington since 1992, told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
She was responding to a report in Orbmagazine.com that said California is an ideal post-presidency home for the Obamas.
The president could golf year-round and Mrs. Obama, a Harvard-education lawyer, could emerge from her husband’s shadow, the report said, citing sources close to the family.
“I’m flattered if that should be true,” Mrs. Feinstein said. “Somehow I do not believe it is true. But I would be flattered if it were.”
The senator appears to have other things on her mind, namely the World Series.
Before CNN’s Candy Crowley could sign off the interview, she said: “Go Giants — I got it in.”
