Rep. Peter King said during a Fox News interview that the United States was falling down on the job when it came to protecting against terrorists.

“We have to be more aggressive,” he said during an interview on “The Kelly File” shortly after the Canadian terrorist attacks on the country’s war memorial and Parliament building, Newsmax reported.

He also called for more surveillance — but didn’t get into details on how additional government spy programs would guarantee the privacies of innocent Americans.

“The fact that the Canadians were aware of at least one of these terrorists, to me, shows that we have to have greater surveillance,” Mr. King said, Newsmax reported.

Canada was named by Islamic State terrorists as a target for attacks due its participation in U.S.-led airstrikes over Iraq and Syria. The nation saw a recent Islam convert run over two soldiers with his car in Quebec on Monday.

That suspect had been on the country’s watch list, and his passport had been revoked. Wednesday’s shooting suspect was also reportedly a recent Islam convert.
