Keenan Robinson was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after he had 14 tackles in the Washington Redskins’ 19-17 victory over Tennessee on Sunday.
Robinson, the starting mike linebacker, was the first Redskins player to have at least 14 tackles in a game since Perry Riley did so in the season opener in 2013. He leads the team with 57 tackles, including two for a loss and a sack, and has one interception this season.
Tennessee was held to a season-low 236 yards in the loss, including 76 on the ground. Robinson had 10 tackles in the first half, eight of which were on running plays.
Robinson had 13 tackles in the Redskins’ Week 4 loss to the New York Giants.
No Redskins player had been given the honor by the NFL since cornerback DeAngelo Hall earned it in Week 12 in 2011. The last time a Redskins linebacker earned the award was in Week 4 in 2011, when Brian Orakpo was honored by the league.
