CHICAGO (AP) - A child traveling from Liberia to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago will be tested for Ebola “out of an abundance of caution” in what officials say is part of an important first trial for the city’s new Ebola response system.

The child was among two ill travelers taken to hospitals for monitoring after arriving Tuesday. The situation became a real-life drill for dozens of health care workers in the city’s newly activated Ebola network.

The city released a statement Wednesday saying the child is improving and has a normal temperature, but that “out of an abundance of caution,” doctors decided to test the child. The other traveler, an adult, is in good condition and no longer in isolation.

Health officials emphasized there have been no confirmed Ebola cases in Chicago.
