A bomb was detonated right by Cairo University, Egypt’s largest place for higher learning, leaving 10 injured, including six police officers.
The Interior Ministry said the bomb was a rudimentary device, The Associated Press reported. It was detonated during clashes between police and Islamist students who had launched a protest right by the campus, AP said.
This is the second bombing near Cairo University in the last six months. In April, three bombs were set off right outside the school’s main campus, killing a police general and injuring seven other law enforcement agents.
Following Wednesday’s explosion, security agents quickly closed down the area and scoured through video footage captured by local television stations, trying to identify the culprits.
