The U.S. State Department has approved a $600 million tank ammunition deal with Iraq.
Congress now has 30 days to deny the deal, which was relayed to lawmakers on Monday by the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Reuters reported.
The deal includes:
• 10,000 M831 120m, high-explosive anti-tank munitions.
• 10,000 M865 120mm kinetic energy warheads.
• 26,000 other munitions.
• Logistical support.
General Dynamics, the supplier of U.S. M1A1 Abrams tanks, would be the prime contractor, Reuters reported. The Virginia-based company is also poised to supply U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) with an ultralight replacement vehicle for its Humvee fleet a part of a program called Ground Mobility Vehicle.
