A group of conservative students protesting Hillary Clinton during her campaign rally at Oakland University in Michigan were threatened by a left-leaning Democrat, who vowed he would infect them with Ebola if they didn’t cease and desist.
“I just came from Texas, I have Ebola, and now I’m going to give it to you,” said Larry Mitchell, 63, a member of the St. Clair Shores Democratic Club, on a video captured by Campus Reform.
The 25 or so students were corralled off by campus police and Secret Service agents at a site far from the event hall, where Ms. Clinton, the former Secretary of State, was speaking in support of two Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate and governor, The Blaze reported.
Witnesses said Mr. Mitchell approached them, threatened them — and then licked his hand and tried to wipe his saliva on them, Campus Reform reported. He also called them “fascists” and said their libertarian political beliefs were the causes of Ebola’s spread.
“Without a public health system, we are going to have the spread of Ebola,” Mr. Mitchell reportedly said. “Libertarians don’t want a public health system so you’re a fascist.”
Mr. Mitchell later told Campus Reform that he doesn’t have Ebola.
“Libertarians are a bunch of Republicans who just want to smoke pot and get laid,” he told the news outlet. “They don’t even count for much as far as I’m concerned with because they’re not Americans. They don’t believe in America. They believe in themselves.”
Mr. Mitchell also admitted that he approached the students “because they’re idiots,” he said, Campus Reform reported. He went on: “But they’re easily scared and intimidated and when you have bullies like that, you bully them back, and that’s when they go away — and that’s what they did. They went away.”
David Rowe, a senior political science student at Oakland, told Campus Reform he has filed charges with university police over claims that Mr. Mitchell grabbed him by the throat and licked his hand.
“This is the fist time I’ve ever gotten attacked at a protest,” he said, Campus Reform reported. “I’ve been yelled at before. I’ve been doing protests for quite some time. I’ve always gone to different protests and organized different things, but I’ve never gotten attacked like that.”
Oakland police said they couldn’t comment because the investigation was ongoing.
