Michele Bachmann was assigned a security detail by Capitol Police after an Islamic State online threat to her safety recently emerged, according to Politico.

Politico’s unnamed sources said the detail — likely 24-hour protection on the Hill and in her home district — was assigned last week and will provide protection until her retirement at the end of this Congress.

Ms. Bachmann’s office directed request for comment to police, who’s spokeswoman Kimberly Schneider told Politico in an emailed statement, “The U.S. Capitol Police does not discuss law enforcement operations or security regarding Members of Congress.”

Ms. Bachmann has been a vocal opponent of the Islamic State, supporting military action against the group at the September Values Voter Summit, saying “You kill their leader. You kill their council. You kill their army until they wave the white flag of surrender,” Mediaite reported.
