Seeking to infuse her U.S. Senate campaign with some high-wattage political star power, Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes is bringing in former President Bill Clinton to stump for her for the third time in Kentucky, the Associated Press reports.
The scheduled visit Tuesday comes as Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is set to kick off a three-day bus tour Monday with Kentucky Reps. Hal Rogers, Andy Barr, and Thomas Massie.
Mr. Clinton won Kentucky twice as a presidential candidate, and Ms. Grimes identified herself recently as a Clinton Democrat as she continued to stiff-arm questions of whether she voted for President Obama and as former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton swung into the state to boost her campaign.
Mr. Clinton has also made multiple stops to his home state of Arkansas recently in an effort to boost Democrats in competitive gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races there.
Mr. McConnell has a four-point lead over Ms. Grimes in Real Clear Politics’ latest average of public polling on the race.
